Movember

Movember (a portmanteau of the diminutive word for moustache, “mo”, and “November”) is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com.
By encouraging men (whom the charity refers to as “Mo Bros”) to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Breast Cancer Now

Breast cancer is the name for cancers that start in the breast. It is the most common cancer in the UK.
Over 50,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, including around 4,600 in Scotland.
Thanks to research, more people are surviving breast cancer than ever before, yet there are still nearly 1,000 women who die of breast cancer every month in the UK.
Right now, breast cancer is at a tipping point. More women are surviving. But more are being diagnosed than ever before. One in eight women in the UK will face breast cancer in their lifetime. And every 45 minutes, another woman dies from the disease.
